Every year I try to do something to help out the Greyhound Gang, a local greyhound rescue group here in Kanab. They have an annual ‘gathering’ each May, where throngs of hounds from all over the nation meet up to socialize and participate in various planned events.

Anyway, the past couple of years they’ve had an annual auctioning-off of a photo shoot with me… cool, right? I get to take photos of beautiful dogs, and the greyhounds get money for rescue. Everyone wins!

The winners this year were Power (the blonde) and Rascal (the black one). Sadly, Rascal passed away a couple weeks after these photos were taken… However, I am thrilled that I could help them honor Rascal’s memory through these photos. Rest in peace, big guy.

Greyhounds are a wonderful and unique breed of dog, often discarded after they can no longer earn money at the track for their racing owners. If you are thinking about adopting, consider taking a greyhound into your home. Learn more about them here.

That’s too bad about Rascal, but I’ll bet it makes his people even more glad that they got your photo session.
Great work, I especially love that first one – and what a cool thing for you to be able to do to help out. You rock!
